Health workers in Ogun State government hospitals and health centres have been charged to make professionalism their watchword, in order to restore patients’ trust in government hospitals.
The Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, gave this charge during an inspection and supervisory visit to General Hospitals in Ijebu Zone of the State, reiterating that professionalism and right disposition to work would forestall the wrong impression people have towards government health facilities.
“In whatever department you serve, be dedicated to duty and make professionalism your watchword. This would definitely result to increase in patronage”, the Permanent Secretary said.
Dr. Aigoro enjoined the management team of the Hospitals, to enlighten residents on health issues through outdoor health talks, free diagnosis and advice patients on the need for regular check up and necessary treatments on their health, adding that customer service and correct diagnosis, would encourage patients’ visits to public hospitals.
Appreciating the management team for their visit, Dr. Olawale Oni and Dr. Bukunola Akinlesi of the General Hospitals, Omu-Ijebu and Ala-Idowa respectively, noted that the visit had boost their morale as well as created platform to get familiar with the challenges facing public facilities in the State, appealing for the intervention from the government, donor agencies, corporate bodies and well-to-do individuals, to support the health sector.
