The former Govenor of Anambra state, Willi Obiano has been freed by the Economic and Finacial Crime Commision EFCC on administrative bail.
Newsflagship gathered that, EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the development to the channel television on Thursday.
Accodring to him, “The former Govenor of Anambra was released on Wednesday and his passport is still being withheld by the anti-graft agency as part of his bail conditions”.
Recall, the EFCC chairman Abdulraheed Bawa had earlier disclosed that, Obiano was in EFCC custody due the fact the he was yet to meet up with the bail conditions. He added that he was arrested for alleged misappropriation of 42billion naira.
Bawa, pointed out that, Obiano arrest by EFCC was apolitical.
“Obiano was arrested last week at Murtala Muhamad International airport Lagos state, after handing over to his successor, Governor Chales Soludo”.
“The former Govenor was arrested following alleged misappropriation of N5billion sure-P. And N37biillion security Vote funds, which were withdrawn cash”.
Obiano was arrested by EFCC while he was about to leave Nigeria to Houston Texas at Muratala Muhamad international airport and was transferred to EFCC head office in Abuja.
