The former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida has anointed his own 2019 Presidential Election Candidate.
General Babangida ‘s choice is a former Caretaker Chairman of the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
General Babangida made his choice known when Makarfi’s PDP Presidential ticket Campaign team visited the former military President at his Minna Hilltop residence, ahead PDP Presidential Primaries.
Addressing the Makarfi’s team, General Babangida said that Nigeria needed a new narrative because the country could not go on like it was experiencing, adding that, what Nigeria needed most now was an articulated vision of a new Nigeria.

He opined that Makarfi had performed excellency well as a senior legislator, adding that his experience had put the Presidential hopeful in the front burner among other Candidates.
He disclosed that Makarfi had his blessings and total supports to be the next Nigeria’s President.

The former Military President said that he was almost losing hope in Nigeria as a country but with Senator Ahmed Makarfi’s bid to become the next President, his hope and belief in a more stable, politically and economically buoyant Nigeria, had been rekindled.
Senator Ahmed Makarfi is among some other 10 PDP Members that had shown interest in picking the Party’s Presidential ticket.
They include former Vice President; Atiku Abubakar, former Jigawa Governor; Lamido, former Kano Governor; Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Gombe Governor; Ibrahim Dankwambo and Sokoto Governor; Amina Tambuwal.
