ABEOKUTA – Workers in the Ogun State Civil Service have been advised to regularly examine their physical, social and mental health, in order to effectively discharge their duties.
The Head, Occupational Health, Safety and Hygiene Unit, Ogun State Ministry of Health, Dr. Festus Adetonwa, gave this advice while fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokuta, saying, the medical examination became necessary, considering the scope of operations of some workers.
Civil Servants according to Adetonwa, lives sedentary lifestyle, which often kills faster, stating that, Pre- employment, Pre-placement, periodic and exit medical examination examinations are imperative for all workers from time to time
According to him, this would enable workers know their health status at the point of entry and also enables management have firsthand knowledge for proper placement, noting that, early diagnosis can also be corrected on time.
He advised workers to examine their liver, urine, X-ray, chest, heart, breast and cervical for women, prostrate and lung for men, sugar level every six months, to ascertain their medical status.
