The immediate past Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, says any investment in the education of the young ones cannot be in vain.
Former Speaker Adekanbi stated this, while handing over a block of three classrooms with office and store, donated by him, to Army Children School, Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government.
Urging pupils in public primary schools to be steadfast in their drive towards excellence in life and career, Adekunbi said he had continually organised annual holiday coaching for students during vacation, to prepare them for final examinations, in addition to obtaining the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms and distributing same, free of charge to students.
Commissioning the classrooms, the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olukunle Oluomo commended the donor for his intervention in the education sector, charging the pupils and teachers to make good use of the edifice.
In his remarks, the Zonal Education Officer, Yewa North Local Government, Mr. Julius Bamigboye, lauded the donor for his contribution, calling on other philanthropists to emulate the gesture, as government could not solely meet the needs of the people.
While delivering her welcome address, the Head teacher of the school, Mrs. Elizabeth Bello said the donation was historic since the establishment of the school, thanking the former Speaker for the donation, with an assurance that the structure would be monitored for proper use.
