As the pupils return to school for new academic session in Oyo state, the Olalekan Sanni Open Arms Foundation, (OSOAF) has provided back to school packages for thousands of primary school pupils in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
The package which included free school bags, note books, pencils, rulers and erazers for each of the beneficiaries, were distributed to the pupils to support parents’ effort in getting writing materials for their children while resuming school for new academic session.
Explaining rationale for the gesture, the founder of OSOAF, Alhaji Olalekan Sanni, emphasized that the gesture formed part of the Foundation’s aims to give open arms to the needy and less privileged in the society, and particularly for the upliftment of the educational sector in the society.
He said, “Having acknowledged the value of education for our pupils as the best legacy that a parent, state and nation can offer for the children to empower them for future self reliance, we thereby packaged this token to support the parents, this gesture we belief will reduce stress and part of expense, the parents will incurs, as we aware that this is the beginning of 1st term in new classes, where parents will buy books, shoe, uniforms among other expenses to get their children back to the classroom.”
Represented by Barrister Lukman Olaoye, the founder, an Ibadan born US based philanthropist, stressed that the Foundation provided those materials to support the government, the pupils for conducive learning in classes, also parents and reduce the stress of spending, most especially at this crucial economic downturn.
Olalekan Sanni, the President of the OSOAF added that, when a child is equipped with learning and writing materials, the concentration and performance would be enhanced for excellent result.
He stated further that the gesture and other empowerment for the children, women, trader and artisans is Paramount in his agenda, as part of his Willingness to contribute to the development of his origin and the people in order to appreciate God for His mercy, favour and enablement in his life.
