The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Okukenu IV has said that throughout history, Nigerians would always refer to the tenure of the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya, as one of the best.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo made the statement while receiving the, “creme de la creme,” of the Nigeria Army at the Ake Palace on Wednesday, 22nd of September, 2021.
The Egba Apex Monarch noted with satisfaction that Major General Yahaya had started well since his appointment into office on the 27th of May, 2021 when he succeeded late Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, who died on 21st of May, 2021.
The Alake expressed delight at the rich profile of the CoAS, describing his Curriculum Vitae as similar to that of a Professor in a high ranking University.
The Egba Paramount Monarch admonished that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Yahaya, as the Commander of the Military, should ensure peace and stability throughout the Nation.
Oba Gbadebo expressed confidence in the Chief of Army Staff, stating that he was proud of him as he had demonstrated the will to surpass his predecessors.
He further charged him to promote professionalism in the Army.
Earlier, the new Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya expressed delight in the visit to Abeokuta, especially at the Palace of the Alake of Egbaland whom he described as a great mentor to all, and disclosed that his presence at the 81 Division was for operational purpose since assumption of office.
General Farouk Yahaya added that he had also come to pay homage and respect to the Alake.
The CoAS described Oba Gbadebo as a father of all, adding that he played a huge role in the support of the Army based on his first-hand contact with the people, organisations as well as government officials.
He therefore, called for Alake’s full support in maintaining law and order, peace and security in the country, adding that “Alake’s support is required to maintain peace and security in the nation.“
According to him, the security and safety of lives and property should be considered as the business of everyone.
Among the entourage of the new Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya, was Major Gen O. T. Akinjobi, Brigader Gen A. A. Adekoya, Gen D. I. Salihu, to mention a few.
