ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Abeokuta South State Constituency I, Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afuape has explained that, his decision to remain in the party was based on his believe in party supremacy.
Afuape made this known while addressing his supporters and party leaders at his residence in Abeokuta, the state capital, recently.
He added that it is the same believe that has made him to support the candidature of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
It would be recalled that the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun who is contesting for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat of the state under the same party APC, has said publicly that he is not in support of the candidature of Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the governorship candidate of the party, while he is in support of the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Honourable Abdul Kabir Adekunle Akinlade.
Meanwhile, Afuape, a former commissioner for Youth and Sport in Ogun State added that, he has always placed his party ahead of his personal ambitions.
He added that this explains why he stepped down from contesting for the Federal House of Representatives seat during the 2015 general election and did same for the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Afuape urged his supporters to work tirelessly not only to deliver his constituency for him, but to also ensure that they deliver the governorship seat for Prince Dapo Abiodun.
