Ogun Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, has promised to develop border communities in Ogun State when he emerges governor.
Akinlade disclosed this at his ward to ward campaign tour to Arepo, Mowe, Ibafo and Magboro in Obafemi Owode Local Government areas of the state on Tuesday.
He said his administration, when sworn in, would set up Border Communities Development Committee (BCDC).
According to Akinlade, the Ogun State BCDC, when inaugurated, would from time to time see to the welfare of those living in communities that serve as boundaries between Ogun State and other states or country like Benin Republic.
Akinlade said he understands that communities at the borders always face infrastructural challenges as a result of various factors.
He informed that he knows what it means to be at the boundary, having come from Ipokia Local Government, an area that serves as the frontier between Benin Republic as well as Lagos State.
He mentioned incessant killing of his people by men and officers of the Nigerian Customs as the greatest challenge facing them as residents of border communities.
The lawmaker mentioned that about four of his constituents were killed in Owode on Monday; adding he would fight against a reccurence, while seeking justice for the victims.
He promised that all roads being constructed in the area by the incumbent Gov Ibikunle Amosun would be completed by him; urging Ogun indigenes to vote for continuity.
Akinlade added that he would construct roads to open up rural communities and make them economically viable; this he said would be the second phase of Gov Amosun’s development blueprint.
In his words, Hon. Micky Kazzim appealed to the people of Ogun State to vote for the APM and defend their votes.
He said the achievements of the present government in Ogun State would undermine the authority of those who wanted to hijack Ogun State through rigging.
“When you vote, don’t go home. Let them count the votes, ask them to announce and record it.
“Our performance in office as elected political office holders will undermine the authority of those usurpers who stole our mandates.” he said.
We’ll teach Dapo Abiodun a lesson – Akinlade talks tough
The governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Ogun State, Adekunle Akinlade said the people of Ogun State would teach the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Mr Dapo Abiodun, a political lesson.
Akinlade said this while addressing a mammoth crowd at Mowe, in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of the state on Tuesday.
“With our votes, we will teach Dapo Abiodun and his cohorts a lesson in this Ogun State. Our PVC is our power and we will send them back to where they belong with our votes.
“They want to cause problems in Ogun State. They are desperate now; they want to rig, but they will fail by God’s grace. They thought it was too short a time for us to go round Ogun State. Now they are the ones who can’t go round the 236 wards in Ogun State.
“How do you want Ogun people to vote for someone who does not know anywhere in Ogun State, someone who does not know what our problems are?
“When they stole our mandate, they forgot they would still come back to this same Ogun state to contest. They thought we would just swallow the injustice under the guise of party supremacy. Party supremacy does not include injustice or rigging. We must teach them a political lesson they will never forget. Ogun people say no to injustice.
‘When Ogun was generating N500m, they were no where to be found, now that the state is generating up to N7b monthly, they want to come and steal our money.
“They want to come and steal the $350m World Bank grant. They are interested in our lands and natural resources. Say no to them. This is Ogun State and our state is not for sale. I am the next governor of Ogun State by God’s grace. Vote for me.”
