The Vice Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof Felix Kolawole Salako, has stated that without the support of the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olaiya Balogun, he might not had attained the position he held in the Varsity.
The VC made the statement during the Commissioning of Projects, and Award Ceremony held at FUNAAB, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, 5th of May, 2021.
He added that he would only have had only one vote, because some people did not want someone who disregards laziness and mischievousness.
According to him, the institution decided to honour Prof Olaiya Balogun by naming their Main Auditorium after him,
He also said that Prof Balogun sacrificed a lot in ensuring the completion of the Hall, which was on Wednesday, named Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building.
The outgoing VC also disclosed that, the first substantive Vice Chancellor, Professor Balogun also virtually turned the FUNAAB into a well coordinated Construction Site during his tenure.
Responding, the honouree, Prof Balogun, appreciated the VC, and the entire administrative board of the institution for their continued love and support.
Prof Balogun stated that he could not have done it without the help of God and his supporters.
He added that it was his desire that FUNAAB continue to grow and develop maximally.
He also implored the students and the younger generation at large to study about great leaders and learn from them, so that they can make their parents and tutors proud in the future.
