Information and Communication Technology personnels in Ogun State have been challenged to come up with centralized system that could proffer solutions to some difficulties, especially in the area of security.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Communication Technology, (ICT), Mr. Dayo Abiodun gave the charge while declaring open a day training for staffers of the Bureau of ICT, held at the Ogun Tech Hub building, Abeokuta, urging them to be more creative by developing several applications that could be used to enhance revenue generation and take ICT in the State to next level.
He said the training became imperative to broaden the knowledge of staff for effective discharge of duty, saying, “the State is lucky to have a government that is passionate about ICT development, so there is need for us to brace up for the centralization of all the systems of government to boost efficiency in the system.
Earlier in his lecture, titled, ‘Information Technology: An Enabler for Enduring Governance’, the Guest Speaker, Prof. Olusegun Folorunso, from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, noted that the importance of ICT cannot be over-emphasised, saying everyone should strive to continually develop themselves in the area of Information Technology
Prof. Folorunso emphasised that the world has become a global village, describing President Muhammadu Buhari’s New Year’s speech as very apt, regarding the essentiality of ICT ‘’as a tool which is no longer a luxury but a pressing necessity’’.
Also speaking, a Director in the State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Idowu Kehinde, counseled the workers to operate within the ambit of the Civil Service rules and be dedicated to duty.
