ABEOKUTA – The Gombe State Governor and PDP Presidential aspirant, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has said he would step down his Presidential ambition if the party picks a candidate better than him.
Governor Dankwambo emphasized that, his ambition is not a do or die, but for the greatness of Nigeria.
Dankwambo stated this on Tuesday in Abeokuta while meeting with members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ogun State.
The PDP presidential hopeful maintained that, his steadfastness and achievements as a two term governor of Gombe state would spur him to success at the parties primaries, pledging to provide a good leadership if elected president comes 2019.
Dankwambo also said he would declare war on poverty and injustice in Nigeria.
Dankwambo said his ambition to clinch the PDP ticket is ” a fight that should be the number one priority of a leader in order to ensure the happiness of citizens”.
“Nobody can do it alone, but when you understand the people you want to serve, you are going to give them the best.
“We were all shouting we want change, but we didn’t ask how he wanted to change the whole thing from negative to positive. Is he even qualified to make the change” he said.
He continued, “I have been a governor for 7 years now and I am the only governor that came back the second time. We have provided leadership before and we are still going to do more of it.
“We have developed economic blueprint we will share it, we are still looking at the event. I will provide the leadership Nigerians want”.
Dankwambo therefore berated Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state for his poor maintenance of intra-state roads in the state.
Dankwambo who had earlier visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, condemned the poor state of the roads network in the capital city, Abeokuta, describing it as “unpalatable”.
“I don’t know there are pot holes in Ogun state because there is no pot holes Gombe state. But anyway, victory in 2019 is coming to our party PDP.”
