The people of the commercial capital of Nigeria, Lagos are still counting their heavy loss as a result of inferno caused by a petrol tanker crash on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway yesterday.
the conflagration which occurred around 5:30PM in the evening calmed nine lives with four injuries and almost 54 motor vehicles.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, Bisi Kazeem, the victims were burnt beyond recognition, adding that four others were seriously injured.
Mr. Bisi Kazeem also disclosed that the cause of the accident was a break failure experienced by the petrol laden tanker.
A Joint rescue operation involving security agencies like the FRSC, LASEMA, NPF, RRS, NSCDC, Lagos State Fire Service, LASTMA was mounted promptly within 10 minutes of the accident.
As at the time of our report, the agencies are still clearing the debris left by the carnage to return flowing vehicular movement between Lagos and other parts of the country.
