“Late Chief Olajide Sanusi, The Third Asiwaju Of Egbaland, Was A Greatest Patriot Of Ibarapa And Egbaland.” – High Chief Maxwell Ayinla


High Chief Maxwell Ayinla, the successor to the third Asiwaju of Egbaland, has been speaking of the contributions and the legacy of the Late and immediate Asiwaju of Egbaland, High Chief Abdul Razak Olajide Sanusi.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the quintessential and iconic Balogun of Ibarapa and Asiwaju of Egbaland, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), on 1st of August, 2022, the incubent Asiwaju of Egbaland, High Chief Maxwell Ayinla disclosed that, Chief Sanusi was a most successful Community Leader who had paid his dues to Egbaland and Nigeria’s business environment.

Speaking to Newsflagship reporters at the OOPL, Chief Maxwell said that, the Late Asiwaju had also paid his dues to the unity, cohesion and prosperity of Egbaland noting that, Late Chief Sanusi was a shining example of what a noble man should be.

He stated that, Chief Sanusi was an highly industrious, hardworking and a complete devoted Egba man, who devoted his life and time to the development of Egbaland, Nigeria and to the public.

Speaking further, he mentioned that, the children of the late Icon had been giving out hundreds of scholarships for deserving students from Alabata to keep the legacy their father laid down going in the development of the education in the country and had been giving free medical service to the Ibarapa people for the past 25 years.

The current Asiwaju Egba disclosed that, the Ibarapa people had contributed a lot of growth to Egbaland, noting that, the land which the Federal College of Education and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, were built on was donated by Ibarapa, as well as Ogun River Basin.

One of the sons of the late Iron and Steel Magnate, and the Olu Alabata, Oba Abdul Waheed Alani Sanusi described his father as a great man who touched everywhere in Egba and Nigeria as a whole.

Oba Alani Sanusi added that, their father was the Babalaje of Egba Muslims, Mayegun of Idere, Oyo State, Life Patron Islamic League of Nigeria, Balogun Ibarapa Community and the Third Asiwaju of Egbaland.

Also Speaking to Newsflagship reporters, Mrs Bunmi Ibrahim-Sanusi, a legal practitioner, who is also one of the daughters of the late Asiwaju, added that, her father was very passionate about education and also sponsored a lot of people both in Nigeria and internationally to post degree level.

Speaking further, she disclosed that, they had tried to continue their father’s legacy by sponsoring children from Alabata to continue in tutorship education, adding that, he loved Alabata and its people in his lifetime.

Mrs Ibrahim said that, some initiative had been taken by the family in addition to boreholes in the community, renovation of primary health centres and also women’s cooperatives adding that it’s been a wonderful opportunity to showcase their family’s legacy.

She commended Alake’s hardwork, noting he was closed to their father, and since he became the Alake, he had ensured the legacy never dies.

He therefore prayed that, the Alake would live long and all the innovations in Egbaland would bear fruit in his lifetime.
