Ogun State Government has launched Ogun Digital Economy Infrastructure Project (OGDEIP), on Thursday, 15 April, 2021, at the Ogun Tech Hub, Abeokuta.
The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in a statement posted on his Instagram page just few minutes after the launch, stated that Ogun State has taken the leadership in digital technology in Nigeria by this first of its kind massive investments in the digital infrastructure.
“Today is one of my proudest days as a citizen of Ogun State and Nigeria overall. Today, Ogun has taken leadership in digital technology in Nigeria…” The post read.
“We are by launch of the Ogun State Digital Economy Empowerment Project, taking hold of the future and set to define it in our own terms.” He added.
The Vice President also congratulated the Egba Paramount Monarch, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and his Olori Tokunbo Gbadebo, on their recently celebrated 50th Wedding Anniversary
Prof Osinbajo further described the Alake as an exemplary Monarch, adding that younger couples should emulate his values.
Speaking also, Mr Umar Dambata, representing the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, noted that the Project was well timed and foresighted.
He added that its wealth creation ability would generate high revenue, increase innovations, and commerce in Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
In his speech, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, commended the Federal Government for their hard work and support.
Prince Dapo Abiodun disclosed that the Project would be first in Nigeria because it would lead to an industrial revolution.
He added that the project would facilitate better electricity and good roads, and it would make Ogun the largest ecosystem.
The Governor further stated that it would enable marketers to network better and conduct commercial activities with the rural populace.
Speaking on behalf of all Obas present, the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle commended the Ogun State Government for the giant step taken.
Oba Ougbenle also stated that the Project would fast track development and enable business growth in the State.
The MD of Wema Bank, Mr Ademola Adebise, in his goodwill message, pointed out that all financial institutions, especially bankers stand to gain a lot from the project.
Mr Adebise added that banks are happy to partner the industrial revolution taking place in Ogun State.
