The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, bared his chest as he affirmed to have lived up to his electoral promises at the onset of his administration.
Dapo Abiodun made the statement during his visit to the Ake Palace with the team of APC Abeokuta South Local Government candidates on Thursday, 23 July, 2021.
The Ogun State Chief Executive listed areas of fulfilment as promised to include completion of uncompleted and ongoing projects by his immediate predecessor, sustenance of continuous development of Abeokuta as a befitting State Capital and running of an all-inclusive administration for equity and justice to all the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
Prince Abiodun told the Alake and Egba Chiefs that the APC had come to seek the support of the Alake and the Egbas to support the continuity of progress and prosperity of Egbaland and indeed the entire Ogun State based on testimonials of keeping promises, even growth and development of all nooks and cranies of the State.
The governor, who described Ogun State as one of the most peaceful in Nigeria, reiterated that his administration had invested in security and welfare.
He said, “We are redefining governance and rebranding Ogun State.
“The interchange being constructed is a monument that would tell anyone coming into the State that something great is happening therein. It would be called the Gateway City Gate.”
The Governor also promised to add structural correction and aesthetic values to the Egba Chiefs Hall at the Ake Palace when he promises to cause reconstruction of the sharp and high steps of staircase to the elevated stand of the 1,000 capacity Hall.
Prince Dapo Abiodun said he would be taking over the finishing of the Hall to make it more conducive and friendly for use for the aged and the agile.
Governor Dapo sought for special blessing and prayer from the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbedabo for a clearcut victory for all APC candidates in the Saturday Local Government elections in the State.
The Alake, Oba Gbadebo, who had earlier welcomed the Governor and his entourage to Ake Palace, noted that the leadership of Ogun State under Governor Dapo Abiodun had been peaceful and progressing.
He commended the Governor for realising that governance was a continuum by pledging to continue and finish projects uncompleted by his predecessor, adding that it was this attitude that would ensure all season and sustainable growth and development of the State.
The Alake advised the candidates to emulate Prince Dapo Abiodun by making promises that were realisable and fulfilling them.
Oba Gbedebo noted that the outgoing and former Egba Traditional Council Accountant, who was contesting the Chairmanship of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon Omolaja Majekodunmi, had proven himself as a man of integrity and should not change if God put him at the helms of Abeokuta South Local Government, adding that other counselorship Candidates should do likewise.
Besides, the Alake also specially commended the Governor for a good job properly delivered so far, adding that he should just sustain the tempo to put his name on enduring marble of history.
Praying for the Governor, the Alake asked the Almighty God to be the guide and strength of the Governor, adding that all candidates seeking election would be successful in their bid to lead their communities.
However, he admonished them to be servant leaders when they are elected into offices.
Top APC offices and officials were present at the occasion.
They included Engr Noimot Salako Oyedele, Ogun Deputy Governor; Alh Shcuaib Salisu, Ogun Chief of Staff; Hon Afolabi Afuape, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Hon Titi Oseni; Mrs Kikelomo Longe and otters.
Also top Egba Chiefs were present.
