Lisabi Stood For “Assistance To The Less Privileged” With A View To Making Their Lives Better- Alake




The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has noted that, Lisabi’s story was a call to everyone in Nigeria, Ogun State and especially in Egbaland to assist and uplift their immediate society with a view to making their life better .

Alake made the remark, in his address to Egba compatriots at this year’s procession to Igbo Lisabi on Thursday, 3rd of March, 2022.

In his address, Oba Gbadebo reiterated that, Lisabi was a patriotic and hardworking man, who, through selflessness and the love for his country, fought with all his might to regain the freedom of his homeland.

He added that, Lisabi didn’t think of himself alone but his whole community, noting that, he wouldn’t want his people to be secluded, and the little he had was used for the benefit of all.

He implored everyone to emulate Lisabi’s life, by giving their patriotic best to the society

Alake further urged those who were in great position to help those, who were less privileged in the society, such as giving out scholarships, Provision of water, electricity and other infrastructural developments that, they think, could be done to uplift their immediate society.

The Egba Apex Monarch stated that, the purpose of coming to the Lisabi Forest was to share in the legendary warrior’s lifestyle, by showing love and affection to one another

Speaking further, he noted that, this year’s Lisabi festival theme was, “inclusiveness of the youth in the socio-economic development of Egbaland,” urging the youth to start learning some skill, which would make them employable before having a white collar job.

In his speech, the Aare Onakakanfo , Chief Gani Adams said he was proud of Egbaland and the way they maintain their relationships with other people outside Egbaland.

Iba Gani Adams also called on Yoruba race to continue to allow peace to reign in Yoruba nation, in order to achieve common goal, culturally, socially as well as in their collective security.

Also Traditional prayers were conducted at the occasion for the peace, progress and prosperity of Egbaland and its compatriots both at home and in diaspora.

Seaman’s Schnapps, the “Prayer Drink” of the Lisabi Festival, was used as libation for the success of the prayers

Egba Chiefs and Compatriots were present at the occasion; Balogun of Egbaland; Chief Sikirullahi Atobatele, Lisa of Egbaland, Chief Ayinla Olaogun, Seriki Egba; Chief Tosin Fadare, Akogun of Egbaland; Chief Abraham Shoyoye, Odofin of Egbaland; Chief Kolawole Akintoye, Asiwaju Egba; Chief Maxwell Ayinla, Aro Egba; Chief Yinka Kufiile, Boroji Egba; Chief Lateef Lemboye, Bantun of  Egbaland, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa, Aare Akinrogun; Chief Musibau Babarinsa, Asiwaju Onimo-Ero; Chief Adeniyi Akanni, Asiwaju Baasegun; Chief Owolabi Odulate, among others
