The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has urged the Ogun State Government to enact a law, that would make Vigilante Group of Nigeria, (VGN), a bonafide and a salary earning agency of the security forces of the State..
According to Oba Gbadebo, the VGN were the closest security force to the local people, pouting out that their presence would further boost the already overstretched security system
The Paramount Ruler said that their charisma and expertise would secure lives and property as well as ensure peaceful co-existence in various communities.
Oba Gbadebo made this known during a courtesy call of the VGN, Ogun branch, at the Ake Palace on Tuesday, 31st of May, 2022.
Alake urged the government to arm the VGO as this would further ward off criminal elements in the society.
He reaffirmed the belief that, VGN would soon be recognized as one of the bonafide and certified security agencies in Nigeria.
The Egba Apex Monarch therefore assured the Vigilante Group of his support and assistance in ensuring the group were certified.
In his earlier address, Chairman, VGN Ogun Chapter, Mr Temitope Oluwasoga disclosed that, they had come to pay a courtesy call on the Alake, and to discuss him of the current situation of the organization.
Mr Oluwasoga reiterated that, VGN needed recognition, which would incur the group as one of the bonafide and qualified security agencies to earning monthly salary and be given ammunition, which would enhance them in their community policing
He appealed to the Egba Apex Monarch to intervene in the matter, so as to make sure they were given attention and support.
