THE MANCHESTER GROUP CELEBRATED THE 32ND EDITION OF THE LISABI FESTIVAL IN GRAND STYLE.

More than 50 Egba living in Manchester, UK were in Abeokuta to participate in this year’s Lisabi Festival.
They were led to the annual fiesta by their leaders including the President- Chief Olaseye, the Balogun Egba Manchester- Chief Adesina Olajide, the Iyalode Egba Manchester and Chief (Mrs) Afeniforo.
Other members of delegation were the Jaguna Egba Manchester-Saburi Adebesin, Bada-Tajudeen Akinsanya, Aare-Rilwan Adebiyi, Princess Seun Omoyelu, Chief Mrs Falodun and Alhaja Allinson
Speaking on his experience since arrival in Abeokuta since last week Balogun Egba Manchester, Adesina Olajide said he and his people were thrilled with the arrangements’ for the Festival.
Chief Olajide said since the installation of the Egba Chiefs in Manchester, more than two years ago, Egba indigenes had been more cohesive, collaborative and doing businesses together.
He disclosed that although he had personally donated #500,000. towards the construction of the hall being undertaken by Honorary Title Chiefs, the Egba in the city would jointly send another #1million in support of the project.
The Balogun also recalled that the group had been donating hospital equipment and other materials for the well being of the people in general adding that they would sustain the exercise.
He commended the Alake for being an excellent rallying point for Egba growth and development.
In her contribution, the Iyalode Egba Manchester, Chief (Mrs.) Afeniforo said that the Alake had made Egba living and working in Britain more proud and conscious of their origin and heritage to the extent that they were working harder and giving back to the society in England.
She expressed delight that Egba in the U.K. now held their heads high anywhere.
She disclosed that the Egba in Manchester would henceforth regularly contribute to the upliftment of the Egba you and the needy.
This year’s Lisabi Festival attracted a lot of the Egba in diaspora such as from the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom and elsewhere.
