The Ogun State Government has said that efforts are ongoing to facilitate the upgrade of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, to a Bachelor of Technology Degree Award Institution by next academic session, in affiliation with Olabisi Onabanjo University, (OOU), Ago-Iwoye.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who disclosed this during a courtesy visit of the MAPOLY Alumni Association to his office in Abeokuta, said the decision was to further stabilise and boast the status of the institution.
Prof. Arigbabu noted that one of the major achievements of the present government is the restoration of MAPOLY, saying, “the institution is standing firm and stronger since this administration came on board.”
He noted that every segment of the education sector had witnessed a turnaround, through the provision of Ogun State Education Intervention Funds, assuring that the road network that leads to the institution would get attention soon.
Speaking, the President of the Association, Pastor Ezekiel Obasanya appreciated the Governor for reviving the institution, which had brought it back on track.
“It is impossible for government alone to cater for the complete needs of students and educate its citizens, that is why we have come to support the government in the area of providing Hostel Accommodation for MAPOLY students”, he said.
