The Chairman, Mercyland Group of Schools, Chief OgoOluwa Bankole has reassured parents that the school will continue to provide learning-friendly environment for students to have a “robust and round” education.
These, he emphasised, was a deliberate policy to make children academically and morally sound, alongside being independent.
Chief Bankole spoke during the 2021 Graduation and Price Giving Ceremony.
He explained that apart from the government standardised curriculum, the Mercyland system allowed extracurricular to help students build confidence and be useful to society and themselves.
Speaking in the same vein, the Principal of the school, Pastor Eze Moses, said that Mercyland Secondary School was living up to the expectations of the parents, the Ministry of Education and the Proprietors.
He disclosed that, despite COVID-19, the School continued to progress in academic and moral development.
The Principal enjoined parents and guardians
not to force their wards to study any particular profession.
The Guest Speaker, Dr Waheed Tejuoso, Senior Lecture at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic was speaking, on topic, “Empowered To Conquer The Future.”
He strongly advocated skill acquisition as a very important aspect of a good education system.
This he advocated would enable everyone to survive, adding that learning should include Skill Acquisition for self-enhancement.
He told the audience that empowering their wards to learn to use their hands alongside formal academic works, is a panacea to joblessness.
The Baamowe of Egbaland, Professor Ajao Delana Adelekan, representing Alake of Egbaland, admonished the students to combine academic prowess with skill acquisition to have a balanced education.
Professor Adelekan also called on Governments to enforce entrepreneurial learning in schools.
