Ogun State government has reiterated its commitment to the development of rural communities by implementing various projects that would improve the living standards of rural dwellers.
Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known at a meeting with a team from the Rural Electrical Agency (REA) in Abeokuta, assuring that his administration would not pay lip service to the welfare of people living in rural communities.
Represented by his Consultant on Budget and Planning, Mr. Olabimtan Olaolu, Governor Abiodun said rural communities are indispensable to the actualization of his government’s agenda of ‘building the future together’, adding that projects such as; electrification, road networks, schools and health facilities would be improved upon for rural communities in the State.
He revealed that government was synergizing with various agencies towards providing adequate power supply, which he noted would curb rural-urban migration and facilitate development to rural communities
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mr. Hazzan Adekunle, said availability of electricity in the communities would go a long way in enhancing the socio-economic status of the residents.
The Team Lead, Teleola Oyegoke appreciated the State government for providing enabling environment for the team to carry out its duties, saying the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), which was made possible through partnership between the Federal Government and the World Bank, would provide electricity to homes in the hinterland communities.
In his remark, the Director, Rural Electrification, Ogun State Ministry of Rural Development, Engr. Rasaq Ojetola lauded the REA team for its developmental initiatives and efforts, which was in consonance with the drive of the current administration in the State.
