President Buhari has reassured Nigerians of his commitment in leading 100 Million women out of poverty in the next 10 years, hence, calling on NFWP and women to work together for the socio-economic development of the Nation.
The Nigeria President, who was represented by the Chief of Staff to the Federation, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, disclosed this at the Nigeria for Women Project flag-off ceremony at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, on Friday, 1st of April, 2022.
President Muhammadu Buhari reiterated the importance of virtuous women in the development of the nation building, noting that women rights were human rights, as well as, they were indispensable part of humanity
He also disclosed that, three Ministers had been assigned to the Nigeria for Women Project, which included; Minister for Women Affairs; Dr. Pauline Tallen, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development; Hajiya Sadiya Farouq and Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning; Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.
He therefore appreciated the role of the Director of World Bank, Mr. Chaudhuri, who was also committed to the success of the programme, adding that, the success of women was our success, and together they would surely overcome all the damages and challenges of insecurity and unemployment in the country.
Speaking at the Event, The Director for World Bank Country, Mr. Shubham Chaudhuri noted that Nigeria was coming out of poverty with the support of the NFWP, adding that Ogun State had taken the programme and were determined to extend it to the other 17 Local Governments in the State, which would bring progress and prosperity to the State, Various Communities and the country at large.
