The Proprietress, Mercyland International Schools, Dr. (Mrs) Anuoluwapo Bankole has asserted that, Nigeria would actually begin to develop socially, technologically and economically, if the youth’s creativity and innovations were being encouraged and promoted
Dr. (Mrs) Anu Bankole made this known in an interview with the Newsflagship Correspondent, during the presentation of the School’s Science Project at the Inaugural Annual Lecture of the Egba Science Educational Foundation at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on Tuesday, 15th of March, 2022.
In her comments at Tunde Abudu’s 93rd Birthday and the First edition of Tunde Abudu Annual Lecture Series, at the OOPL, she stated that, the world itself had become digital, which incidentally began through the youth involvement in the development of Science and Technology, adding that, the youth could do more, when they were encouraged and promoted.
She affirmed that, Nigeria and Ogun State could be developed economically with Science and Technology with the youth inclusiveness, noting that, a lot of youths out there, were intelligent enough to produce more Scientific Inventions, but only needed support and encouragement.
Dr (Mrs) Bankole therefore urged the youth not to rest on their oars, noting that, the only way, every beginner would be a winner was by winning over their fear and believing in themselves.
Also speaking, the Registrar and Science Instructor, Mercyland International Schools, Mr Adeola Folorunsho explained that, there were some dynamics that could be used in agriculture and according to the theme of the programme, they had decided to work on some of the effects of Science and Technology on agriculture.
Mr Folorunsho also disclosed some of the projects, made by the Students which included; Hydroponics Farming, Manual Irrigator, a Turbine that could generate light on farm lands, where they have no source of electricity, noting that, those inventions could bring solutions to few problems in agriculture.
Speaking further, Mr Folorunso stated that, majorly, their plan was to create a special exhibition, whereby they could request for grants from Government, in order to have some of the technological inventions on a larger scale.
He therefore advised the youth to wake up from their slumber as well as put to practice all that, they had learnt in Tertiary Institutions.
The Mercyland Science Teacher also urged Students to start from somewhere, adding that, they could not just wake up one day and want to start flying, pointing out that, perhaps they must start from somewhere.
The exhibition by Mercyland drew a big administration from a large portion of the audience, who openly discussed the scientific prowess of the students.
