Nigerian Institute of Environmental Engineers Holds 20th International Conference In Abeokuta


The Nigerian Institute of Environmental Engineers (NIEE), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), is to hold its annual International Conference/ Annual General Meeting, at the Green Legacy Resort, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, on Thursday, October 28, 2021 and Friday, October, 29, 2021.

This was disclosed in a statement made by the National Chairman of the NIEE, Engr O. E. S. Ajani, on Wednesday, 27th of October, 2021, during a Coutesy visit to the Alake of Egbaland.

The Chairman stated that the Nigerian Society of Engineers had conducted their annual Conference in Abeokuta since 2006.

He therefore said that they had deemed it fit to bring the Conference back home

Engr Ajani added that they came to pay homage to the Paramount Ruler of Egbaland and seek his royal blessings for the 2 day programme.

He disclosed that one of the problems facing the Engineers was waste management

According to him, “to those that know how to manage waste, it’s about money, but to us here in Nigeria, it’s just waste.”

He further said that the usefulness of Waste Management would be discussed during the Conference.

“Some cities use wind energy to survive. However, we need to utilise the abundance of green energy we have in Nigeria towards our greater development.” He added.

The Chairman also said that the Ogun Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako Oyedele, had assured her presence at the occasion, adding that the Olofin of Isheri, Oba Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade, would also be present.

In his response, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, welcomed the Nigerian Society of Engineers to his Palace.

Alake stated that Engineering is referred to as doing what is possible.

He added that the Conference would surely be a success and bring about greater development.

The Egba Apex Monarch also noted that the waste that some people pour in oceans are causing harm to people in other regions because that same water is what they drink.

Alake said that their work is large and he prayed that the NSE would continue to get things done in the right way.

He further urged them to derive joy in offering great services to humanity and not focus on money only.

He added that Renewable energy is what developed Countries use to create and develop roads and electricity.

He prayed they would prosper and their businesses would grow as they work towards greater development of the country.

Among the entourage of the Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers (NIEE) National Chairman, Engr. O. E. S. Ajani, included Engr. S. M. Odukoya, Engr. M. A. Yinusa, Engr. R. A. Kumolu, Engr. Mrs. O. Agboola, Mr. Segun Ajibola, Mr. Nasir Ajani, Mr. Yusuf Olofin, Mr. Olumide Asaolu, Mr. Najim Isqil.

Egba High Chiefs present at the occasion included Baagbimo Akanni Akinwale, Bantun Kehinde Sofenwa, Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode, Iyaloja Kemi Oloyede, GbegbaAje Tejumade Bakre.
