The Alake and and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has enjoined the new Commissioner of Police, Mr Olanrewaju Sikiru Bankole, to strive to cushion the issues of kidnapping and cultism in Obada Oko, Ewekoro.
Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, made the plea when welcoming the Mr Lanre Bankole, who had paid the Egba Apex Monarch, his first official and courtesy visit, at the Ake Palace on Tuesday 9 November, 2021.
Alake noted with concern that Kidnapping was becoming common in Obada Oko while at Ewekoro, Cult boys were on the rampage.
Oba Gbadebo said the new Commissioner of Police had served in almost every part of Ogun State, adding that he should be in a better position to understand and act professionally on the terrain of the state with positive result.
The Egba Apex monarch reassured Mr Lanre Bankole and his men that Abeokuta the host capital of Ogun state and its indigenes were always ready to cooperate with the police and other security agents with the view to making the entire state safe and peaceful.
Speaking earlier,the new Commissioner of police Mr Lanre Olarewaju Sekiru Bankole told the Alake that his posting to Ogun State was a happy and practical home coming adding that, since the beginning of his career, majority of his postings had been to Ogun state to the extent that he still remember and know some of the people he met in 1995 till date.
The new Commissioner of police reassured the Alake that he and his men were ready to provide the best security architecture for the state.
The Ogun state police helpsman pleaded with the Oba Adedotun Gbadebo that the Egba and other Ogun state indigenes should continue to give the police and other security agents the proverbial support and cooperation, which would lead to police and other security agents be on top of the situation.
He also said that it will be traditionally indecorous in a traditional society like Egba land and other part of Nigeria for him not to seek the blessings of the highest traditional leader before starting his job, adding that was why he was in Ake Palace to seek for the blessings and support of the Alake.
Among the entourage of the new Commissioner of police were Police Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers in Abeokuta Environs, the Police Public Relation Officer Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Also, the PPRC Police Public Relations Community led by Venerable Popoola were also fully represented.
Some of the Egba High Chief who joined the Alake, Commissioner of police and his entourage were Balogu of Egbaland Sikirulahi Aikiru Atobatele, Seriki Tosin Fadare, Baagbimo Akaanni Akinwale, Aare Baaroyin Layi Labode, Bantu Kehinde Sofenwa.
