“Nobody offended me, Opposition To My leadership Was Healthy And For Our Good — Prof. Adewale Abdul-Semiu Musa Olomu


The re-appointed Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Professor Adewale Musa-Olomu, has declared that there is no ill will or grudge held against any FMC Staff, Management Senior, Intermediate or junior staff.

Prof. Olomu disclosed this during his welcome-back ceremony at the F. M. C. Abeokuta Event Hall, on Thursday, September 9th, 2021.

The Medical Director enjoined those who had in one way or the other disagreed with him, to consider the good things he had done that had brought accolades to the FMC and not his faults.

The Professor of Medicine added that all the projects carried out during his first tenure were never from the government pocket, adding that they were financed through internally generated revenue, coupled with prudence.

Prof. Adewole recalled that F. M. C. Abeokuta, was almost an empty hospital before he came in four years ago.

He recalled that, there were no X-ray and ultrasound machines in the Institution while the hospital laboratory was empty before he came on board.

Futhermore, he revealed that the F. M. C. Abeokuta Hall was not in existence before he came.

He stated that, since his arrival at the Medical Centre, all the lacking aspects of the Institution had been attended to

The re-appointed Medical Director projected that, in the next six months time, there would be a befitting Medical Director’s Office.

Also, he noted that a lot of people had dropped dead in the medical institution, due to inadequate cardiac services, adding that this sad situation would be attended to very soon.

The Professor of Medicine unveiled that a world class Dialysis Center would soon be constructed and the project would be sponsored by Hon. Mojid Adesanya.

Prof. Olomu also urged those who were once opposed to his administration, to forget the past and join him as a family to become one, to make F. M. C Abeokuta the best in Nigeria.

He added that he was totally ready to work in mutual peace, understanding and accord with all shades of opinion for the betterment of the Medical Centre.

He pleaded for a mutual cooperation of all because every one would would be a winner at the end of the day.

Professor Musa Olomu appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Federal Government, Chief Bode Mustapha, Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunimbe Mamora, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Gambari for approving his second term.

Prof. Adewale thanked the Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasonjo, Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Former V.C FUNAAB, Prof Olaiya Balogun, for the support and their words of encouragement they rendered him during the hard time.

He also thanked profusely the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland and all his Royal Cabinet, adding that Alake stood by him till the battle was won.

Speaking on behalf of the Management and Staff of FMC, the Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Fidelis Ojeblenu, said that it was by God’s grace that Dr. Olomu is where he is, adding that the institution had faced a lot of turbulences before getting to where it is now.

Dr. Ojeblem stated that the recent trials faced by the re-appointed M.D were like an examination that had led more knowledge, understanding and promotion.

The Head of Clinical Services admonished every member of the institution to continue with their hard work and not be distracted.

Dr Ojenlem noted that members of the institution had stimulated the leadership dexterity of the re-appointed M.D, thereby making the institution formidable.

In their goodwill message, the Corp Members serving in F. M. C. Abeokuta congratulated the re-appointed Chief Medical Director.

They stated that they had witnessed enormous and laudable projects, Prof. Olomu executed during his first tenure.

They commended some of the new projects established by the Medical Director such as Electronic Medical Record to replace manual keeping method.

They also appreciated Prof. Olomu for establishing a Police Post within the hospital premises and an Oxygen Plant in the centre which produces minimum of 120 cylinders on a weekly basis.

The Medical Youth Corp Members noted with satisfaction that Chief Medical Director made a procurement of latest equipments for virtually all the Clinical Departments.


The Corps Members prayed that Dr. Olomu’s re-appointment would lead to a continued growth and development in the centre.

Other notable people at the occasion were, Dr Mrs Titilayo Olomu (Wife), Director of Administration, Mr A. O. Vaughan, Head of Finance and Account, Mrs T. F. Aramide, Head of Nursing Services State hospital Ijaye, Mrs Musun, Head of Nursing Services, F. M. C. Abeokuta, Alhaja Are Hashim.

Others were, Head of Pharmacy, Dr. Olugbenga Odunifa, Head of Procurement, Pastor P. O. Olutunde, Deputy Director Administration, Dr. D. O. Agbawre, HOD Internal Audit, Mr Olusegun Ayelabola, Deputy Director Of Finance and Account, Alhaji Oladipo, Chairman NANS, Comrade Bello, Chairman Joetsuth, Comrade Olatokun.
