Authority of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in the drive to positively impact the environment has approved the NYSC National Environmental Sanitation Day.
The initiative formed part of the efforts of the scheme to ensure proper hygiene and healthy living in host communities.
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Ibrahim Shuaib has flagged off the exercise which commenced in Yobe State from Wednesday 7th to Saturday 17th July, 2021.
Yobe NYSC swung into action with sensitization visits to critical stakeholders led by the State Coordinator, Mrs Hafsat Yerima,.
Yerima, represented by the Head Corps Discipline and Reward, Mal. Rabiu Hassan, sensitized the stakeholders on the need for a clean and healthy environment to guard against infections and diseases.
The two weeks programme is to be observed at the state, local and community levels with sensitization of community leaders, youth and women groups, market, schools, religious bodies and associations to key into this laudable initiative.
The programme will be rounded-off with the National Environmental Sanitation Day on Saturday 17th July, 2021.
Mrs. Yerima expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Yobe State, all critical stakeholders, security agencies, religious and community leaders for their unflinching support to the NYSC in the state.
Besides, she appealed to all and sundry to support the laudable programme of national importance by coming out en mass to participate to make the environment healthy.
