The Oba Gbadebo Foundation in continuation of its operation “kill Coronavirus and hunger virus,” distributed relief materials comprising basic foodstuffs like rice, garri, and beans, to 1,000 vulnerable individuals at the Ake Palace Abeokuta on Friday, 1 May, 2020.
The recipients comprised the aged, the physically challenged, and the widows, they also included apparently vulnerable youths and children.
The Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mrs Oyewunmi Oladipo-Segun said that the distribution of the seven hundred – 3-in-1 pack relief materials were the fifth in the series of the regular Foundation’s succours to the vulnerable segment of the society.
Mrs Oladipo-Segun disclosed that, in addition to the Oba Adedotun Gbadebo Foundation reliefs, the Alake ordered that all palliative items, brought to Alake as support, be distributed in addition to the people simultaneously, to cushion the negative effects of the COVID19.
The Executive Secretary however appealed to the recipients to be more orderly as there were enough food items to go round all the needy people coming to Ake for the palliatives.
She added that it was unfair that some people were recycling themselves in order to collect two or more rations in one day.
The Bantun of Egbaland, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa, assisted by Chief Femi Ogunmokun and Palaces officials, conducted the distribution of the palliatives on Friday.
