The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle has charged the Transition Committee Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Alhaji Ramon Fagbenro and his team, not to rely only on markets for the council’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) but look inwards and think out of the box to generate income for the growth and development of the area.
Oba Olugbenle who gave the charge while playing host to the Chairman and the management of the local council in his palace at Ilaro, implored them to look into waste management by liaising with the Ministry of Environment, towards smooth and effective implementation of waste disposal management, to generate revenue for the council, as well as empower the citizens, especially the youths of the area.
According to him, “I don’t want us to limit our Internal Generated Revenue to market alone. We should think out of the box; example of what I am saying is looking into waste disposal management which you can use to empower our people, especially the youths and at the same time generate income for the council.
“People make good money from the waste management in Lagos so, if you take it serious, I tell you that you will generate good IGR from it”, he noted.
The Monarch implored the Chairman to endeavour to give adequate support to cultural events of the area, most especially the Ilaro/Oronna festival and accord the traditional rulers their due respect by seeking their advice for effective governing of the council, urging him to always work with fear of God and endeavour to carry his team and staff along in the day to day activities of the council.
“I thank God for the peaceful atmosphere in Yewaland and Ogun State at large. It was God that placed you in this position. I therefore urge you to lead and govern the Local Government with fear of God and never allow any human to take the place of God in your life’’, he said.
While assuring that his administration would do its best to put smiles on the faces of the people, Alhaji Fagbenro, appreciated the Paramount Ruler for his fatherly role, urging him to accord the Local Government the necessary assistance that would help in achieving success in the new assignment.
“You are our father and father to all citizens of Yewaland. We want you to please guide us and give us adequate and necessary advice whenever the need arise.
“God will continue to be with you and give you more wisdom to lead us right and Yewaland will continue to progress “, the Chairman said.
