The Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile has sought the support of electronic media in the State, in propagating more people-oriented programmes and activities of government in order to achieve the “Building Our Future Together” mantra.
Odusile who made the call in Abeokuta during familiarisation visits to some radio stations in the State, said their contributions would create an avenue for the people to be well-informed on the policies and programmes of government with opportunity to get feedback from the public.
The Commissioner noted that as information managers, journalists should see themselves as partners in progress and avoid reports that can set the State on fire saying “of what use is the information you want to share, if it would cause chaos in the society”.
Odusile further implore journalists especially “On Air Personalities, to be careful at the choice of words on air and avoid ambiguity. “Please be mindful of what you give out to the people. If any information is not clear, please ask us for clarity”.
Speaking on the recent youth protest, Odusile said, “this is an opportunity for us as a nation to chart the course of what we need to do, revealing that “by the time we finish the ongoing empowerment programmes of Governor Dapo Abiodun led government, we would have solved a great percentage of the agitations of the protesters”.
Speaking, the General Manager of Paramount FM, Alhaji Niyi Odekunle called on the information management team to rally support for the Commissioner, enjoining media experts in government circle to help guide against fake news.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Rockcity FM, Mr. Niran Malaolu while pledging his station’s support for government, called on the present administration to allow the Community Development Associations (CDAs) enjoy better working relationship with the Local Government Areas for grassroots development.
