The Ogun State House of Assembly will tomorrow, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 hold a stakeholders’ forum on a bill for a law to amend the Local Government laws of Ogun State, 2006 H.B. No. 058/OG/ 2020- the Local Government (amendment) law.
A week after, the House of Assembly is also scheduled to hold another stakeholders’ forum on a bill for a law to provide for an approved method for the selection, appointment and recognition of Obas, Chiefs and Traditional Councils in Ogun State and for purposes incidental and supplementary to them, H.B. No. 069/ OG/ 2021- Obas, Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council law of Ogun State.
A release by the Clerk of the Assembly and Head of Legislative Services, ‘Deji Adeyemo, indicated that the stakeholders’ forum on the Local Government (amendment) law, was meant to harness input and contributions of all relevant stakeholders in local government administration on how best to administer and reposition the councils for better performance.
It added that the stakeholders’ forum on traditional council law would offer input on how to redefine the traditional institution to reflect current realities.
The public hearings, according to the release, are to take place on the aforementioned dates respectively at the State House of Assembly Complex, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta at 10:00am prompt, while all the stakeholders are enjoined to be seated by 9.30 am.
