The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), has eulogised the immediate past Iyaloja General of Egbaland, late Alhaja Aishat Ebun Iyaniwura in recognition of the role played in organising payment of taxes by traders in the State.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Revenue, Mr. Jide Sanwo, in a meeting with the Executive members of the Market Women and Men Association of Ogun State Nigeria (MAWOMAS) Egba Zone, at OGIRS Headquarters in Abeokuta, described the late Iyaloja as a woman of virtue, supporter of governments policies and programmes and a great leader that promoted the cordial relationship between the government and traders across the State.
Sanwo on behalf of the government and OGIRS commiserated with the family of the late Iyaloja and the association, describing her demise as a great loss to the State.
He enjoined the association to support the government by paying their taxes regularly, noting that without payment of taxes, the government would not be able to perform its social responsibilities maximally.
“Our roads, schools, health facilities and other sectors need intervention, we are pleading with you to take payment of taxes as a must to help the government achieve its dreams”, he said.
In his response, the State Secretary-General for the traders, Alhaji Mutiu Ayinde appreciated OGIRS for its understanding on effects of the pandemic on businesses, commending the State Government for all developmental projects embarked upon, while pledging the association’s readiness to join hands with the government in a bid to take the State to an enviable height.
