Ogun State Government has commiserated the family of a foremost educationist and former Commissioner for Education in the State, late Prof. Akinola Ogunpola, who died on Monday, June 15, 2020 in Abeokuta.  

The State’s Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who led the state’s delegation to his residence in Abeokuta, noted that the legacies of the deceased in the development of the education sector in the State during the Olabisi Onabanjo administration, still speak volumes, adding that the late Professor lived for service to God and mankind.

“This is an occasion to celebrate a life well lived in the service to God and the people of Ogun State. We are proud to call him our own and for people who were not in Abeokuta when he was here, his legacy in repositioning the education sector, led to the naming of one of the model schools in the State after him”, she said.

She prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest and the family, the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Speaking on behalf of the family, son of the deceased, who is also the Consultant to Governor on New Media, Mr. Damilola Ogunpola, thanked government for identifying with the family during the trying period.

In company of the Deputy Governor were some members of the State Executive, APC leaders in the state and the daughter of the first Civilian Governor of the State, Mrs. Adebukola Onabanjo.
