Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured citizens of his commitment to the enhancement of dignity and honour of the traditional institution in the State.
Governor Abiodun who gave the assurance during the installation and coronation of the Oniwoye of Iwoye, Oba Makinde Buhari Ololade, at Iwoye town hall in Yewa South Local Government, stated that roles of the traditional institution is key to social harmony and peaceful co-existence of the people.
According to him, “our government has immense regard for royal fathers and traditional rulers, and we always welcome advice from them, in order to maintain social harmony and ensure peaceful co-existence in our State. I therefore use this opportunity to call on all our royal fathers and chiefs in addition to our new kabiyesi to continue to address anti-social behaviour in their respective communities.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, the Governor appreciated the people of the State for their support and understanding of his administration since inception, assuring that the government would not relent in its efforts at transforming and repositioning the State.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Transition Committee Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Alhaji Rahmon Fagbenro, applauded the Governor for his support and approval of candidature of the new Oniwoye. He advised the new monarch to always consider the progress of Iwoye town in every of his day-to-day activities and action.
Alhaji Fagbenro urged the people of the town to give the new monarch needed support and cooperation towards the social and economic development of Iwoye town.
Speaking, the new Oniwoye of Iwoye, appreciated the Governor for his support, promising to operate an open-door policy and carry people of the area along in his daily activities.
