In its bid to improve socio-economic activities and ensure security of lives and property particularly at the grassroots, Ogun State government has commissioned projects in Odeda Local Government Area.
The projects include, construction of 40 Open Stalls at Gbonnagun, 16 Lock-Up shops at Osiele, 20 Open Stalls at Kila markets and re-construction of Police Post at Bakatari.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun said the projects were executed to complement the existing stalls in the markets, towards creating conducive environment for traders in order to reduce stress and risks associated with trading, as well as enhance security services in the area.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, the State helmsman said the projects would further boost the economy of the council area and its environs, as it shares boundary with Oyo State.
Governor Abiodun maintained that Local Government were closer to the people, adding that efforts would be intensified to deliver more dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
“You entrusted your votes to us, therefore, I assure you that we will not disappoint you, as we continue to work for the success of everyone. By the time this Administration rounds-off, all the 20 Local Government Areas will have more projects to showcase”, he said.
In his remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Semiu Lawal urged the market leaders, traders and the people of Odeda to use the facilities judiciously and continue to maintain peaceful co-existence among themselves, assuring the Governor of the Council’s support in the ‘’Building our Future Together’’ agenda.
