ABEOKUTA – The Director General of Allied Peoples Movement Campaign Council, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola on Tuesday, said the campaign council has a mandate to deliver the candidate of the party in Ogun State, Adekunle Akinlade as the next governor of the state.
Ishola, who is a former Minister if Mines and Steel Development said this during the inauguration of party’s Secretariat and constitution of campaign committees at state and local government levels.
The former Minister who is also the Baba Adini of Yorubaland said they were in APM to correct injustice meted against the people of Ogun West Senatorial District and Akinlade by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to him, Ogun State has historic role to prevent the hijack of aspirations of the people of Ogun State, adding that the foundation of politics is justice and equity.
Ishola said part of the injustice which threw up Akinlade was the inability of people of Ogun West senatorial district from becoming governor of the State in its over 40 years experience.
He also explained that while Akinlade was unanimously chosen in APC, another injustice was meted on him by allegedly removing his name by the leadership of APC in Abuja.
The former Minister later inaugurated a 300-man state campaign committee list while 10 members were also inaugurated as local government council campaign committee for each local government and local council development areas.
He also mandated the committees at the local government level to inaugurate necessary committee at their various areas to include elders council, polling booths committee, amongst others.
“The foundation of our politics is justice and equity. Our goals is service to the good people of Ogun State. However, this service cannot be achieved if it is built on the shaky foundation of injustice and inequity.
“This recent history of Ogun State has defined our tasks in the 2019 gubernatorial election. We have a historic role to prevent the hijack of the aspirations of the people of Ogun State.
“The resources and potentials of Ogun State should be explored in the service of the people of Ogun State. This is our brief for the 2019 elections.
“We have a duty to deliver Hon. Adekunle Akinlade as the next governor of Ogun State. He has been tested and found capable of sustaining the Mission to Rebuild Ogun State which started in 2011 under governor Ibikunle Amosun,” Isola said.
While charging the committee to be dedicated to their roles, Akinlade said the people of the State is his mandate adding that the leaders should play politics of inclusion by bringing more people to their folds.
