OGUN ASSEMBLY CALLS FOR SAFEGUARD OF LIVES, PROPERTY

Agencies of government have been directed, as a matter of urgency, to look into the issue of gas refilling shops and plants sited in residential areas, so as to guide against fire outbreak in the State.

Speaker of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Olakunle Oluomo gave the directive at the resumption of plenary in Abeokuta in a bid to safeguard lives and property of citizens of the State.

Oluomo while responding to the explanation of a member representing Sagamu II State constituency, Hon. Adeniran Ademola, on a recent fire incident from a gas station in a residential area in his constituency, which claimed more than 20 houses, said the federal and state fire services should immediately close down gas stations and shops in residential areas.

In another development, the Assembly has called on the State Ministry of Works to liaise with Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to provide palliative measures on Adatan-Osiele and Brewery/Ita-Oshin road, in a bid to alleviate the suffering of people plying the roads on a daily basis.
