ABEOKUTA – The Ogun Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has recovered seven vehicles loaded with Petrol from pipeline vandals along Ajebo road, in Abeokuta.
The Commandant of NSCDC Ogun command, Everestus Obiyo who disclosed this on Wednesday said the command’s civil monitoring unit along village of Obafemi Owode local government in Ogun State, engaged the suspected pipeline vandals and made them to flee and abandoned the vehicles.
“We are here this night due to the tip off we heard about some vandalism taken place at obafe, as we are getting there, the boys escaped abandoning their vehicle and ran away. That’s how we this things belonging to them (pointing at the vehicles loaded with drums and Jerry cans filled with premium motor spirit PMS).”
“This people are adamant and daring, there is noting we can do than to march them force to force since all approaches and measures we have taken to let them conform to the rules of dealing with petroleum products but prefers doing it their own ways. We can’t tolerate it , we will match them with what they need.”
My advice to this people is that they should go and look for meaningful means of livelihoods not this way. Ogun State is a hot place for them, I advice they relocate out of here, go else where as far as we are concerned.”
“What you see here today, because of the Yuletide period criminals like them catch on such opportunities, such opportunities like this to perpetrate their acts. We will not allow it, we have mobilized more than 3000 personels within this pipeline areas to match them” Obiyo concluded.
