As parts of the efforts towards creating conducive and enabling environment for teaching and learning in the State, the Ogun State Government has commissioned renovated principal’s office, classrooms and administrative block, provision of chairs and tables for students and staff room members, borehole and school toilets, amongst others projects at Ebenezer Grammar School in Abeokuta.
Flagging-off the projects, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo expressed gratitude to the donors of the projects, describing education as both necessity and investment which must be embraced by all and sundry with the seriousness it deserves.
Soyombo submitted that the desire of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration, was to create an enabling environment for learning and capacity building, where students and teachers would be happy to learn and work, adding that the renovated classrooms would not only uplift the school but also make it compete with first choice schools in the State.
“In the current global world of Information Technology (IT), education is both necessity and investment which everybody must embrace with the seriousness that it deserves. The era when education was acquired in crowded and stressful classes is becoming a thing of the past as the State Government has taken a stand in ensuring that it is a policy on education as top priority is fulfilled with the provision of basic infrastructure, sound curriculum and welfare”, she said.
In his address, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Oludayo Okunade appreciated the State Government for creating atmosphere of global relevance for teaching and learning, prompt payment of salaries and subventions to schools, appealing for more government’s attention.
Also speaking, the Principals of both Senior and Junior Schools, Mrs. Abosede Babalola and Mrs. Funmilayo Sobiye respectively, thanked the current administration in the State for granting the approval of the projects, saying Ogun Digital Classroom organised by the government during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown was a proactive initiative that was worthy of commendations.
Speaking on behalf of the donors, Mr. Abayomi Fujah said that the projects were a way of giving back to the community, appealing to well to do in the society to always join hands with the government in order to move the education sector forward.
