Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako has urged Nigerians and Beninese living along the borderlines of the countries to continue to live in peace.
The Deputy Governor gave the charge while playing host to the boundary sensitization committee of the National Boundary Commission (NBC) on the Benin Republic and Nigerian Border issues in the State, led by its Director-General, Surv. Adamu Adaji.
Salako emphasized that issues concerning boundaries, both internal and external should be given utmost attention.
According to her, one of the best ways of averting conflict between two parties, especially along border boundaries is to ensure a mutual relationship.
“Issues of boundary disputes is something that has to be managed very well, especially in this age of social media. We already have an idea of where the pillars were, if not the exact position and base on this, we would be able to persuade our people and assure them of the governments’ support,” she said.
She stressed that the governments of both countries need to take actions and do away with the lingering crisis.
She assured of the state government’s resolve to make necessary consultations and take actions to ensure that peace reigns between the two parties.
