ABEOKUTA – The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has assured that women would no longer be neglected and waved aside in the policy direction and fomulation as we have witnessed in the past.
Mrs. Abiodun stated this on Thursday while addressing members of Civil Society Coalition on Sustainable Development Goal (CSCSD), at her office in Iperu, Ogun State.
She assured the group of government patronage and more cordial relationship with her office.
She promises to rally the lawmakers to galvanize their assent and cooperation when needs arises to make laws that put women at forefront of leadership responsibility.
“We will look deeper into women that have keen interest in politics and encourage them.
“Ours as government as you have read during my husband’s electioneering campaign is government of ‘inclusiveness’ that promises to promote fairness and equity. You can be assured that your values as an organisation which we also believed are essential norms to growing a working nation; Democratic Governance, Transparency and Accountability, Solidarity with the Poor, Inclusiveness and Partnership will be respected. I will put words, and always make case for more women”.
While speaking, the leader of the delegation, Mrs. Mojisola Adesanya said the visit was to intimate the First lady of the exponential importance of government involving Civil Society Coalition in policy evaluation and developmental projects accross the state.
Expressing the fundamental objectives and vission of CSCSD-SDGs, Mrs Adesanya stresses that CSCSD is Centre space for justice, peace, fulfillment of human rights and development in ramifications, and in partnership with other civil society, the poor and the marginalized, the donors, the development partners, and international community.
“With about 23 networks in Ogun state, we focuses on social and human rights, Aid and financing for development effectiveness, Global and national security, Development issues. It also promises to promote global equality, gender sensitivity and advocate for more women in Politics through government adoption”.
While charging the Wife of the Governor to use her good office to mobilise funds and facilitate more developmental and Strategic programmes for women citing the just concluded International Widow’s day celebration facilitated by the wife of the Governor as an example, Mrs Adesanya, also advocated for quota of women in politics.
She butressed that having a definite strategy at ensuring women are well represented in policy formulation, direction and leadership positions would further foster a balance and equity in leadership.
The meeting also occassioned presentation of CSCSD-SDG activities as well as letter of intent to decorate the First Lady, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun as the new SDG Champion which was laudible accepted, an official presentation of the copies of the People’s Manifesto and SDGs was also presented in line with the tradition.
