The Ogun state First lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has assured widows in the state of her resolved to ensure proper welfare package for them.
Mrs. Abiodun made this known at an event organised to mark the 2019 International Widow’s Day, with the theme “Renewed Hope for Widows” in Abeokuta, the state capital; with a commitment to empower them.
She, added that the present administration will ensure widows live normal and peaceful lives; stating that the government will set up mechanism that will address their concerns.
She, also hinted that the government will organize counselling and mentoring sessions for the widows in order for them to cope and get over their situations.
The governor’s wife in her remark urged the widows not to be seen as a victim of poverty, but rather stand up for what belongs to them and their family.
She also urged them to do all their best to promote the name of their families in whatever form it might take.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Modinat Kadiri appreciated the governor’s wife for the kind gesture.
She noted that, the event was first of its kind since the advent of political dispensation in the state.
“I really appreciate the governor’s wife for this development, she did well for us and we are glad for this. May God continue to bless her now and everytime.
“This gesture by the Mrs. Abiodun is worthy of thanksgiving and we are grateful for that. This is the first time a government will remember us as widows.”.
