The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has hailed the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina for making the polytechnic self-sustaining institution in the state.
It would be recalled that, both academic and economic activities in the polytechnic were grounded for three years following the decision by the then Senator Ibikunle Amosun administration to replace the polytechnic with Ogun Poly, Ipokia and created MAUSTECH.
But Abiodun upon assumption of office in May 29, 2019 gave life to the 33year-old polytechnic by rescinding the previous administration’s decision by reverting MAPOLY to its status quo ante with full academic activities restored.
However, Governor Abiodun at a thanksgiving service for his victory at the election petition tribunal held at June 12, Cultural Centre, Kuto in Abeokuta commended the monumental achievements recorded in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic since full academic activities was restored in June this year.
He stressed that, the polytechnic management has successfully make the institution a self-sustaining, thereby relying less on the monthly subvention from the state government.
In his words, “MAPOLY is an ecosystem of people with the smartest brain. To the glory of God, MAPOLY has come alive. They’ve matriculated students. I want to tell you that, the subvention that we used to give MAPOLY has been reducing every month.
“MAPOLY is almost practically paying for itself. Unbelievable. Let us give the rector of MAPOLY a round of applause. I understand that, they’ve written a letter to actually commence the operations of their Radio station. Can you believe that? That is to tell you how much economic activities has resumed in that polytechnic”, governor Abiodun enthusiastically averred.
Meanwhile, the governor has assured to establish the proposed Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology (MAUSTECH) in the state capital once the committee’s recommendations are implemented.
