Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said that the State has gained enviable status in the country, as a result of monumental development that has spread to every nook and cranny of the State in the last eight years, saying he is leaving office, after two-term tenure as a fulfilled man.
Amosun who spoke while receiving in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, leaders of the State branch of Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), said, “As for me, my job is done, I am at peace with my creator, having led the State for eight years and turning its fortune around for good”.
The Governor noted that the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has sky rocketed due to the quantum of investments and assets that abound in the State, adding that development partners are now collaborating with the State in various areas that have positive impact on the people.
Amosun who disclosed that his government has fully paid for all ongoing road projects in Ijebu-Ode, thanked the organised labour and Civil Servants for the support given to his administration, assuring that he would look for ways of offsetting outstanding leave bonus and gratuities.
Earlier in his remark, the State Chairman of TUC, Comrade Bunmi Fajobi said, the visit was to thank the Governor for fulfilling his promise to offset deduction arrears, saying, “We want to appreciate you for fulfilling your promise to Civil Servants in the State.
“I can say authoritatively that we have received the 17 months salary deductions and the gross salary of April. You meant well for Ogun State and you have done well. You have grown the State in all ramifications and we thank God for your courage and tenacity”, he stated.
Fajobi added that the Governor was leaving the State better than he met it, expressing optimism that the incoming administration would continue to build on his legacies.
