General Hospitals and the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) are to be rehabilitated, equipped and adequately staffed, to serve as referral centres in Ogun State.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, speaking at his inauguration at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, described healthcare as a basic need of man, which his administration would focus on by refurbishing, equipping and upgrading existing Primary Health Centres (PHC), to ensure quality service delivery.
Governor Abiodun disclosed that a master plan would be developed to provide facilities such as; power, good road network with drainages at industrial hubs, while investors would be engage on regular meaningful dialogue to obtain direct feedback that would be incorporated into government policies and programmes.
He decried the deplorable state of roads, particularly in the rural areas, saying government would deploy resources to urgently fix them, in order to ease the suffering of the people at the grassroots.
Prince Abiodun further stated that Public Works Department (PWD) would be resuscitated, to carry out repairs of inner roads in towns, so as to make human and vehicular movement pleasurable, noting that government would partner private sectors to provide affordable houses to address housing deficit in the State.
While expressing displeasure on the declining standard of education in the State, the Governor revealed that education Stakeholders summit would be convened to proffer solutions to the problems confronting the sector, adding that, there would be massive capacity building for teachers, to enable them impart positively on students, while adequate monitoring and evaluation mechanism would be put in place to ensure that the aims are realised.
On Tourism, Abiodun disclosed that government would also collaborate with the private sector to establish a creative Arts and Entertainment village that would transform the State’s Tourism into an economically viable sector, with the aim of promoting arts and culture that would attract both local and foreign tourists to the State.
He called for the support and cooperation of the people to move the State to the next level, saying, ‘’this government will work for the people. My administration will be just, equitable and fair to all. My utterances and actions will be for the interest of the people’’.
In his remark, the Head of Service, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu, appreciated the people for the roles they played towards electing the Governor, urging them to support him to take the State to the next level.
