OGUN MOVES TO INCREASE REVENUE DRIVE

The Ogun State Ministry of Finance is determined to address the challenges of revenue collection, as well as preventing revenue leakages, in order to improve the revenue base of the State.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olusegun Olaleye, stated this  at the opening of a training organised for Accountants and Revenue Collectors of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies(MDAs) of government, at the Conference Room, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Oke-Mosan,  Abeokuta,

Mr. Olusegun Olaleye, said the training was aimed at building the capacity of the Officers, who are having challenges on how to access the e-Platform in revenue collection, adding that the partnership with Xpress Payment Solutions Limited, would equip participants with the needed competence for collecting all revenue items accrued to the State through Online Real-time Process.         

He noted that the training would also avail the revenue officers the opportunity of using the Portal effectively and enhance their accessibility, saying with the Platform, officers would detect fake transactions and ensure all transactions done are checked.

“In the past, we were having challenges relating to closure of portal, effective usage of the platform and payers inability to pay into the platform, so with this training, all our revenue collectors can access their own revenue items”, Olaleye said.

Contributing, the team Leader, Xpress Payment Solutions Limited, Mrs. Bolanle Kujebe, said the training would afford the MDAs to have an overview and effectively use of the Platform, noting that the company has introduced a Website, e-cashier and Point of Sales (PoS), as means of revenue collection.

“We have introduced three collection channels to the State Government, the website that is connected to the State government’s website, the e-cashier, which allow any tax payer to walk into the bank and pay for any revenue item and we also have the Point of Sale (PoS), stationed in strategic places like the Zonal Offices of the Treasury Department”, Kujebe noted.

Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Mrs. Fatima Aderoju, said the training was a right step in the right direction and has increased their knowledge on revenue generation, adding that, such training should be organised on regular basis, to ensure they keep abreast of new trends in the financial sector.
