ABEOKUTA – A House of Representatives candidate from Yewa South and Ipokia federal constituency under Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Olukayode Idowu on Tuesday has pledged to lobby the Federal government to revamp the moribund railway lane in Idogo under Yewa south local government area of Ogun State if elected as National Assembly lawmaker.

Idowu who is politically known as K.I.D said the rail line would help in stopping killings of the people on the roads by a popular cement trucks plying Ilaro area.

Idowu who spoke at a press conference held at SDP secretariat in Ilaro said, the resuscitation of the the railway line would also open new business opportunities for the people in the federal constituency and reduce road crashes and decongest the heavy truck of loads on the Ilaro / Ipokia highways.

He however expressed deep disappointment at what he described as poor performance of Hon. Adekunle Akinlade as member representing Yewa South and Ipokia federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.

Akinlade who is still serving at the House of Representatives is the governorship candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM) in the forthcoming election.

Idowu said he was disappointed in the APM governorship candidate and all other lawmakers who have represented the constituency in the past because none of them has been able to facilitate any meaningful infrastructure to the area hence people in the area have just wasted their votes on them.

He wondered what the previous and present lawmakers used their constituency allowances for, insisting that he would correct the anomaly if elected.

His words: ” I am disappointed in all of them (past and present representatives). They have failed us. They have not done anything for the constituency. All our roads are bad, without good roads, no investors will come in and invest.”

According to him, the area (yewaland) is the least developed in the state hence massive infrastructure was needed in the area “in order to open the place for investors to come in and invest”.

” We need good roads and developmental projects to open our area to the world. The road we are enjoying today was constructed by Chief Olusegun Osoba. I don’t know why Governor Ibikunle Amosun has not done anything in Yewa”.

He said the present representative, Akinlade has failed to perform since the last four years, insisting that he has done nothing for the constituency.

Idowu said if elected, he would lobby and fight as well as make sure the federal government presence was felt in the area in terms infrastructural development.

He said, ” Akinlade should focus more on why is elected into the National Assembly because as a young man I expected him to have done very well in terms of roads development, social amenities, but he has failed in all these, so if I am elected, I will ensure that I fight to make all federal roads in this axis are constructed and as well as empower our youths. From my research none of these has been done and that is why I am asking myself what people who have gone to the national assembly have done in this vicinity.

“Just like I said I am truly disappointed, but I believe the electorate will decides his fate at the poll on March 2nd.
