Members of the Governor’s Elders Advisory Council (GEAC) in Ogun State have been commended for their financial support towards provision of more relief materials for the people of the State to ease the lockdown order.
Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, while receiving the Chairman, Chief Oluneye Okuboyejo and some revered members of the group at the Governors’ Office in Abeokuta, maintained that the gesture by the elders at this period, when states and nations of the world were battling with the dreaded COVID-19 virus, was a motivating factor that would further engender good governance across board.
“I welcome you my fathers and mother. This is indeed an encouraging gesture especially when it is coming from revered people of the Governor’s Elders Consultative Council.
“There is no way an administration would be performing if there is no show of support like this. On behalf of the government and people of the State, we appreciate you and say a big thank you”, he added.
The State Scribe, who acknowledged the supplications of the elders at all times, as well as their robust and meaningful engagements since their inauguration, reassured the elders of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration’s commitment to tap from their vast wealth of knowledge for the overall development of the State.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of the group, Chief Okuboyejo, noted that the GEAC decided to support the State government in its determination to cushion the effect of the dreaded COVID-19 virus on the vulnerable and poor people in the society.
“We appreciate government for all efforts and measures put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus among the people of the state. This is just our token of love and support to the government to assist in cushioning the effect of this pandemic on our people”, he stated.
