Ogun State Elders Forum Tasks Citizens To Shun Violence And Encourage Peace

The Ogun State Elders’ Consultative Forum has urged residents of the state to encourage and embrace peace at all times.

Chairman of the forum, His Excellency, Prince Bola Ajibola SAN, made the appeal in a statement made available to Newsflagship in Abeokuta over the weekend.

The forum commended the Prince Dapi Abiodun led-government for establishing the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun Security outfit.

The Forum expressed the conviction that the Amotekun security officers will work in collaboration with the existing security agencies, saying all efforts must be tailored towards ensuring that Ogun State gain total freedom from the Fulani herdsmen who have been terrorizing the State and Nigeria as a whole.

“These so-called herdsmen have destroyed farmlands, farm produce and they also kidnap innocent people,” the Forum lamented.

The forum admonished residents of Yewa and other parts of the State facing Fulani herdsmen attacks not to relent in their effort in following due process and embrace peaceful dialogue at all times.

Besides, the Forum admonished citizens and residents to avoid domestic violence and stop taking laws into their hands.

It called for trust among citizens on the administration of Dapo Abiodun who has been working tirelessly to ensure that peace reigns supreme in the State, adding, “No society can develop meaningfully without peace.”
